One Voice Awards 2024
What a brilliant excuse for a big night out with lots of lovely voiceover folk...I'm was up for 2 One Voice Awards! I'm thrilled to have had 2 nominations this year in areas of work that are relatively new to me over the last couple of years; In-Store Announcements (I'm now a primary voice for ASDA and Kwikfit) and Telephony/IVR.
I came home empty handed but my heart was full after celebrating everyone’s wins and nominations with so many lovely fellow voiceover artists. I can’t remember the last time I caught up with so many people in one night and I loved the much needed social time with people who totally ‘get’ voiceover and do it themselves. I don’t actually talk about my work much in my personal life and it can be a bit lonely running a business that you carry out on your own; most of the time in your booth, from your house!
The theme this year was Punk or Black Tie. I sort of went half and half with my outfit and ended up more Goth than anything, ha! But I did love the excuse to wear my Doc Martens and not heels. I had such a bloody good night that I totally forgot to take pictures. Hence only 1 in front of the awards banner with the lovely Jen Lawton-Hunt and another of me poking my head outside of the hotel window that I actually took for my family to show my daughter where on earth I was.
(Oh yes I also seemed to have caught Covid while there, definitely no where near as fun as catching up with everyone.)
Next year I hope to go for the whole conference. With a young family it’s tricky but hopefully we can make it happen.
Until next year…!
