Looking back on a huge 2022

2022 - it was a mighty busy one!

It started off verrrry slow in Jan/Feb for me and Imposter Syndrome seriously kicked in. I kept my head down and just kept going…

Then things really picked up steadily throughout the rest of the year and I worked on a huge range of clients from Adidas to Volkswagen, Peppa Pig to GiffGaff. There were feast and famine jumps along the way but the beginning of the year had already taught me to keep my cool and keep the faith…and it worked.

I won Best Gaming Performance at the One Voice Awards UK, and picked up a nomination for Best Female Voiceover Of The Year, which totally blew me away. I also got to meet some truly stellar fellow VOs for the first time in person at the conference and had the best time seeing real fleshy faces, not just a bunch of backlit pixels.

The biggest project for me career wise I can't even mention because if you know the games industry, well then you'll know all about NDAs and the secret squirrel secrecy. What I can say is that it took me to France for a few days in the sun with my husband tagging along so we could extend it into a little holiday, the whole experience was a real highlight of the year for me. (That’s a pic of me lapping up the sun on a day off by the beach in Montpellier ^).

2022 carried on pretty smoothly and I threw myself into some 1-2-1 acting training as well as voice coaching from the lovely Tanya Rich and her Richcraft teammate Alicia. I never want to stand still and feel stagnant - it makes me very itchy and bored. So training for me has been a vital part of levelling up my skills and moving forward.

Then, well, things sort of unraveled a bit at the end of the year when a string of illnesses affected our little family and we’re now faced with a very stressful few months of tests and uncertainty.

So treading a bit cautiously into 2023 (hey, I’m a bit of a naturally anxious person on the inside anyway), I’m going to be working on myself to deal better with uncertainty and focus on hope and wellbeing. I think there will be a lot to learn and to apply not only to personal matters but work and career stuff too.

I’m more grateful than ever to have projects already in the pipeline to keep me busy this month including voiceover for a video game project, e-learning and corporate videos plus a big one for me - finishing the vocals on the music album I’ve been slowly working on!

3 video games I’m proud to have worked on in 2022 will be coming out this quarter - so more news coming on that front very soon.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and hopeful 2023.
